The quarterly blogger returns!

I saw in this morning’s news that Kitty Carlisle Hart died. She always fascinated me. I remember her from the early days of I’ve Got a Secret, and later discovered her belatedly in A Night at the Opera. Most of all she was one one of the last Old New Yorkers. I know a lot of nice New New Yorkers, too, but there’s something about an Old New Yorker…

Well, I’d just started to tap my foot and glanced at my watch, wondering when you’d be back!
I remember Kitty Carlisle on I’ve Got a Secret. She always seemed a class act and I always thought she was what I imagined a secretary should look like. I think that show came on around 5 or 5:30 when I was young. Either before or after Dobie Gillis. I think it was before.
I know just what you mean about old time New Yorkers. I met an older lady in a yarn shop on my last visit to NYC and we talked and talked. Well, mostly she talked and I listened. I could have listened to her for hours.

I was a few days late in finding out that Kitty Carlisle had died. Why wasn’t it ‘louder’ in the news? I really liked her. I remember her from To Tell the Truth. And I saw her a year or so ago on The Today Show, promoting yoga for good health in your later years. For a woman well over 80, she was very flexible! It was impressive. Yes, she represented the classy, sophisticated old New Yorker. A woman of means but a people person too. Gotta love those New Yorkers šŸ™‚
