Room 206?

My studio is located in the Shoreline Historical Museum in Shoreline, Washington. It really was Room 206, Miss Shelton’s 6th grade classroom, when the building was still the Ronald Elementary School.

When the school finally closed its doors in 1971, after 65 years, the Shoreline School District, along with the Shoreline Historical Society, undertook to create a museum as a Bicentennial Project. The historic Ronald School became the Shoreline Historical Museum in 1976.

The museum rents out two rooms on its upper floor, and I am one of the lucky tenants. Someday Room 206 will become climate-controlled storage for the museum’s collection, but for now it is my haven and workspace.

And Miss Shelton’s name is still on the blackboard!
